Our Story: A New Chapter for a Valued Legacy
This website, rvidaho.org, has a long and important history.
For nearly two decades, this domain was the official online home of the Idaho RV Campgrounds Association (IRVCA), a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting RV travel and camping in Idaho.
The IRVCA’s primary role was publishing “RV IDAHO,” which was widely known and trusted as “Idaho’s Official Campground Directory”. This guide was an indispensable tool, distributed at visitor centers and promoted by state agencies. It was the definitive source for travelers, containing detailed listings for every type of camping, from private parks to public lands.
In recent years, the association appears to have dissolved, and the “Official Directory” ceased publication, leaving a void for travelers who relied on it.
When this domain became available, we saw an opportunity to continue that valuable mission. We are not the original IRVCA, but we are deeply inspired by their work. We acquired this domain not to abandon its legacy, but to revitalize it.
Our Mission Today: The Directory, Modernized
The original “RV IDAHO” guide was a fantastic print and PDF resource. Our goal is to take the spirit of that comprehensive guide and rebuild it for the modern, digital age.
We are a small team of passionate RVers, researchers, and Idaho enthusiasts who believe that Idaho is truly “nature’s ultimate playground”. We are building a site that we would want to use for our own trips.

- A Complete Boondocking Hub: Detailed guides to the best free and dispersed camping on Idaho’s abundant BLM, U.S. Forest Service, and Endowment lands.
- Actionable Travel Guides: Curated RV-friendly itineraries, scenic byway guides, and in-depth articles on destinations like Craters of the Moon, the Sawtooths, and Coeur d’Alene.
- An Idaho RV Resource Center: A one-stop shop for RV-specific information, including repair services, dump stations, and local tips.
- A Community Focus: A place to share real, up-to-date campground reviews and travel stories from fellow RVers.
